This kit is based on the Allen-Bradley SLC 500 modular PLC platform, with the core CPU being of the model 1747-L532 (or similar SLC 5/03 variant). The SLC 5/03 CPUs provide mid-range control performance with user memory (e.g. 16 K words for 1747-L532) and support up to 4096 discrete inputs and 4096 discrete outputs.

The modular chassis (e.g. 4‑slot, 7‑slot, 10‑slot, 13‑slot; commonly a 4‑slot when minimal I/O is needed) accepts the CPU, I/O modules (inputs and outputs), and a compatible power supply mounted on the left side.
